Voice Mail

Voice mail is available to ASU employees only, at a cost of $5 for installation and $5 per month.  The standard voice mailbox . . .

  • holds 20 minutes worth of messages;

  • retains messages for 10 days;

  • allows callers to leave a 2-minute message;

  • can accommodate up to 25 mailing lists; and

  • can outcall to a pager or other local phone number when a message is received.  (Note: the outcalling feature is optional and must be specifically requested to be activated.)

For an additional charge, customers can choose a larger mailbox size and/or longer message retention times.

Using Voice Mail

SETTING UP YOUR VOICE MAIL

Before you begin, think of a 4-digit password you'd like to use for your voice mail box. Keep this password in mind--you will be prompted for it in Step 5.

  1. To access voice mail from on campus, dial 52000. If you are calling from off campus, dial (480) 965-2000.
  2. When prompted, enter your 5-digit extension, followed by the pound sign. If you are calling from the phone that "owns" the mail box, you can simply press # here.
  3. Enter your password, followed by the pound sign. (The first time you access your mail box, the password is 1. After entering this default the first time, the system will prompt you to enter a new password of at least four digits.)
  4. The system will then prompt you to record your name. Press 1, and after the tone, speak your first and last names, then press 1 again. (Note: Record only your name, not your personal greeting. For example, just say, "John Doe", not "This is John Doe" or "Hi, you have reached John Doe.") The system will replay your name. Press # to approve the recording. If you wish to re-record your name, follow the prompts.
  5. The system will then prompt you to enter a 4-digit password. Enter a password between 4 and 15 digits, then press #. You'll be prompted to confirm the password by re-entering it. This new password replaces the default from above and will be required each time you log in to the system.
